Silicone Wristbands as Personal Monitoring Devices
نویسندگان
چکیده
SI Figure Explanations Extraction efficiency was determined by quantitatively analyzing subsequent rounds of extraction (100 mL ethyl acetate) from a wristband that had been infused with several compounds (four labeled PAHs) (Figure S1). Differences in extracted amount did not differ between the two time treatments (p=0.78). Therefore, extractions for all silicone PSDs in this study were done with at least two rounds of extraction for at least two hours.

Silicone Wristbands as Personal Passive Samplers
Active-sampling approaches are commonly used for personal monitoring, but are limited by energy usage and data that may not represent an individual's exposure or bioavailable concentrations. Current passive techniques often involve extensive preparation, or are developed for only a small number of targeted compounds. In this work, we present a novel application for measuring bioavailable exposu...
متن کاملSilicone wristbands detect individuals' pesticide exposures in West Africa
We detected between 2 and 10 pesticides per person with novel sampling devices worn by 35 participants who were actively engaged in farming in Diender, Senegal. Participants were recruited to wear silicone wristbands for each of two separate periods of up to 5 days. Pesticide exposure profiles were highly individualized with only limited associations with demographic data. Using a 63-pesticide ...
متن کاملPredicting Clinical Deterioration of Outpatients Using Multimodal Data Collected by Wearables
Hospital readmission rate is high for heart failure patients. Early detection of deterioration will help doctors prevent readmissions, thus reducing health care cost and providing patients with just-in-time intervention. Wearable devices (e.g., wristbands and smart watches) provide a convenient technology for continuous outpatient monitoring. In the paper, we explore the feasibility of monitori...
متن کاملMosquito Detection For Improved Malaria Vector Modelling
The HumBug project is targeted at eliminating mosquito-borne diseases that have a major impact on human health, income and mortality [1]. The ultimate aim is to deploy a sensor network consisting of portable devices, such as mobile phones, wristbands or other monitoring devices. The devices may communicate in either a centralised or decentralised fashion to help target areas in need of aid opti...
